Beaba & The BEARS

When my mom gave me the Beaba Babycook I have to say I didn't get it. I thought it was a very earth mama appliance and that I wouldn't use it. I was so wrong. I stinkin' love this thing. I make D's baby food every weekend. It steams and blends his food and the clean up is a breeze. I love knowing exactly what he is eating - no extra salt, preservatives, sugar etc...
These are some yummy sweet peas that I made with our Beaba. The color is beautiful! Our menu now consists of peaches, apples, mango, bananas, peas, carrots, cauliflower, sweet potato, zucchini, yellow squash, butternut squash, acorn squash, eggplant & broccoli.
We did a 15 minute photo shoot this week. Here are some of my favs.

And how could I not mention that our Bears are kickin' butt this year! Dean cheered them on this past fall in football and now we get to enjoy their success in basketball. After the Protestant victory last night over St. Mary's we are looking forward to watching them take on the pagan Duke Blue Devils tomorrow. A classic battle of good vs. evil. See you at the game! Sic'em!

Fun Photoshop Actions

I stole a few minutes this morning to process some images. I used four actions from coffee shop actions (see my sidebar for the link). I love working in photoshop - I wish there were more hours in the day so that I could get to it!

Here they are...

The tops of two precious little teeth peeking through his gums. My sweet baby has teeth!

Two-day

This might sound very boring to those of you without kids but this is big news at our house. Dean got 2 teeth on the same day - today. It is almost more than this new mom can handle. He couldn't just get them one at a time so that I would get used to looking at my sweet baby with chompers!? No, he had to get two at once. Geez. This afternoon someone asked if he had teeth yet and I told them no. As I answered that question I felt his bottom gums and boom two front teeth had pushed through. Pictures will be coming up so stay tuned! Again, an apology to those of you without kids - if you have a baby one day you will understand. :)

D Smack

Looks like he's about to spit a rhyme. Cute lil' white boy. His rapper name on myrapname.com is D Smack. I like it.

Another Austin Weekend...

This weekend Michael and I went to a friend's wedding in Austin. We left Dean with my parents at the lake house. We had 24+ hours to just be a couple again. It was nice. I got my nails done for the first time since I had D. The poor lady was sweating while trying to sand down my claws. I was grateful for the time to rest and recharge! We got back into town yesterday and enjoyed the beautiful weather on the back porch. A wonderful weekend!

Our newest thing is grabbing for my camera. I guess this is my new photography challenge...

The Power of a Praying Parent

My Nanny (Dean's Great-Nanny) recently gave me a Dayspring Calendar called, "The Power of a Praying Parent" by Stormie Omartian. It sits by the computer and each day I flip the card to reveal a Bible verse or thought for the day. These are my favorites so far...

March 4
"Disasters can occur anywhere. The point is to pray and trust God to answer. Things happen when we pray that will not happen when we don't. What might happen, or might not happen , to our children if we don't pray today?"

March 2
"Lord, I lift Dean up to You and ask that You would put a hedge of protection around him. Protect his spirit, body, mind and emotions from and kind of evil or harm. Amen"

Thanks Nan!

Yes, more swing pictures

We went back to the park today with Dad. And yes, here are MORE pictures of us swinging!

Wee!

We ventured out to a neighborhood park in Katy yesterday and enjoyed our first swing! We will probably head back this afternoon for more fun. And, we'll most likely take Daddy on Saturday to show him our swinging skills.

Here is a better image of the hat. It goes with a shirt that has a gator on it. I seem to be drawn to any article of clothing or accessory that has ears, a tail or a fin on it. Irresistible and ferocious all at the same time.

Six Months Old! (tear)

Where has the time gone? Wasn't I pregnant just YESTERDAY?!?! Our big boy had his six month check up today. I can hardly believe it. The doctor said he is looking good. Hallelujah!
Here are our stats...

22lbs 1oz 100%
28 3/4" 100%
45 1/2cm 90% <--head circ.

This explains why my back has been killing me lately. If being six months old wasn't enough to make his Mama cry Dean is also sitting up, putting his toes in his mouth, making lots of new noises, eating veggies and riding in the grocery cart like a big boy (pictured below). We are oh so proud and blessed beyond measure.

This afternoon I am starting my volunteer work for The Ronald McDonald House of Houston at Texas Children's Hospital. It is going to be a humbling experience and I'm looking forward to it. Wish me luck!

Allen Hudson: Baby Whisperer

Not sure if Allen could pull off his own show on The National Geographic Channel but, we were impressed. He was a natural. The pictures and video are priceless! Thanks for coming to visit us Allen!
